Daniel Wylie | Artist
Daniel Wylie is a UK rock musician born 1959 in Glasgow, Scotland. He is best know for his solo work and as the former frontman of UK power-pop band Cosmic Rough Riders. The Cosmic Rough Riders originally formed in 1998 by Daniel Wylie (vocals) and Stephen Fleming (vocals, guitar) and later they were joined by Mark Brown (drums), James Clifford (bass) and Paul Docherty (guitar). Singer/songwriters Wylie and Fleming met while volunteering in the community recording studio of Castlemilk, Glasgow. In time, Fleming became the studio's manager and chief engineer. The band released three studio albums with Wylie up-front before he left in 2002 to pursue a solo career. Cosmic Rough Riders released two further albums without Wylie, before Wylie rejoined and they released two final albums under the name Daniel Wylie's Cosmic Rough Riders. Standout band albums include Panorama, Enjoy the Melodic Sunshine, Chrome Cassettes and Scenery for Dreamers. As a soloist, Wylie's musical style is a blend of jangle-pop and power-pop, influenced by the California rock sound of the 1970s, and featuring his excellent songwriting and musical arrangements. Wylie's run of excellent solo albums kicked-off with 2004's superb Ramshackle Beauty, then came Postcards, The High Cost of Happiness, Car Guitar Star and Fake Your own Death.
