Electric Orange is a German progressive rock band formed 1992 in Aachen, Germany by Dirk Jan Müller (organ, synthesiser). Initially Müller played with guest musicians but the permanent lineup is currently Müller plus Dirk Bittner (vocals, guitar), Tom Rückwald (bass), and Georg Monheim (drums). Müller and Dirk Bittner also work on side projects Bloop and Chair5. Electric Orange's style is laced with Hammond organ and Mellotron, and harks back to the sound of Syd Barrett era Pink Floyd. The band members cite Can, Syd Barrett, Brainticket and Nektar as influences. A prolific recording band, to-date they have released 26 studio albums and a number of live albums. Standouts include Electric Orange, Platte, Morbus, XX and XXV. In the studio the band works closely with Eroc, member of the band Grobschnitt. Dirk Jan Müller also releases solo works under his own name and under the name Cosmic Ground.
