Eliza Carthy MBE is an English folk musician born 1975 in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. Carthy is a gifted singer, songwriter, fiddle player and multi-instrumentalist. She is the daughter of English folk musicians singer/guitarist Martin Carthy and singer Norma Waterson. As well as working solo, Carthy is a member of various groups of UK folk luminaries, including Blue Murder, The Watersons, Waterson:Carthy and The Waterdaughters. Steeped in UK folk history, Carthy's music infuses the traditional with her own contemporary rebellious sound. Outstanding albums include Red Rice, Anglicana, Rough Music, Anchor and Restitute.
