Funkadelic "Standing on the Verge The Best of Funkadelic"

LP (NEW) - Vinyl, Westbound Records, Europe, 2009, SEW2 151, 2xLP, First Issue

George Clinton and his Funkadelic crew released a swag of mind-bending psych-synth-funk classic albums throughout the '70s, including Funkadelic, Free Your Mind, Maggott Brain, Standing on the Verge and One Nation Under a Groove. Their sound was like the synthesis of Hendrix's acid rock with Sly Stone's funk-rock and James Brown's funk-soul music. This 2009 double album compilation collects many of the greatest tracks from across those classic albums, including the 10.17 minute track "Maggot Brain", providing 75 minutes of some of the funkiest booty-shakin' music you ever will hear. Funkadelic was also a major influence on bands and musical styles over later years, including a large number of hip-hop artists, and the genre of hip-hop as a whole.
