Future Islands is an American synth-pop band formed 2006 in Greenville, North Carolina. The lineup is Gerrit Welmers (keyboards), William Cashion (bass), and Samuel T. Herring (vocals). They play infectious synth-driven pop powered by the intense vocals and stage performances of Herring and a strong rhythm section. The band got a big break when they played their single "Seasons (Waiting on You)" on the Letterman Show, which went viral. Outstanding albums include In Evening Air, On The Water and Singles.
