Johnny Greenwood is an English guitarist and composer born 1971 in Oxford, UK. He is the lead guitarist and keyboardist of acclaimed English rock act Radiohead, as well as being an accomplished composer and performer of music for stage and screen. Greenwood has provided the characteristic guitar work for Radiohead since their 1989 release Pablo Honey, then later spearheaded the electronic instrumentation seen in their 2000's release Kid A. Outside Radiohead, Greenwood has seen growing success for his composition work in film, primarily for his collaborations with the director, Paul Thomas Anderson. His scores, which make excellent listening purely as stand-alone musical works, include There Will Be Blood and 2017’s superb Phantom Thread. He also provided the music for the 2010 film adaptation of Murakami’s Norweigian Wood. Beyond soundtracks, Greenwood has released a solo project titled Junun accompanied by Shye Ben Tzur and the Rajasthan Express. Along with compositions for Chamber ensemble and Orchestra, Greenwood has released ten solo albums to-date, standouts include There Will be Blood, Inherent Vice, The Master and Phantom Thread. Greenwood also performed a cameo role in the film 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire', where he played in the fictitious band ‘Weird Sisters’ alongside Jarvis Cocker of Pulp and Radiohead bandmate Phil Selway.
