Ling Tosite Sigure is a Japanese rock trio formed 2002 in Saitama, Japan by Miyoko Nakamura aka 345 (bass, guitar, vocals), Toru Kitajima aka TK (guitar, vocals), and Noda (drums). Pierre Nakano became the new drummer in 2004. The band's style embraces post-hardcore, progressive rock and math-rock genres, often incorporating rapid changes of tempo and mood framed in complex guitar melodies and technical drumming. They utilize both male and female vocals ranging from soft singing to loud wails and screams. Starting out, the band released several demos before starting their own label, Nakano Records, and releasing their debut album #4. Their second album Inspiration is Dead was released on August, 2007, following an EP Feeling Your UFO the previous year, giving the band increased popularity and exposure throughout Japan. They appeared in the Countdown music festival in 2007 and continued to tour on a regular basis. In April 2008, the band released their first single "Telecastic Fake Show" which charted, getting them on the bill of the Fuji Rock Festival and the Rising Sun Rock Festival that same year. In December 2008, Ling Tosite Sigure released the single "moment A rhythm", after signing to major label Sony Music. The single included an art book consisting of Kitajima's photography. To-date, the band has released a total of 7 studio albums, the most recent being 2023's Last Aurorally. Standouts include their first four albums: #4 (2005), Inspiration is Dead (2007), Just a Moment (2009), Still a Sigure Virgin? (2010) and Last Aurorally (2023). TK also has released several solo albums. The 2006 EP Feeling Your UFO is also highly recommended. When translated from Japanese to English, the name "Ling Tosite Sigure" means literally "Cold as a rain shower in late autumn".
