Strung Out in Heaven is the Seventh studio album by The Brian Jonestown Massacre, originally released in 1998 on TVT Records. This album is one of the most consistent, textured and deeply moving of the entire Brian Jonestown Massacre catalog. Nearly all of the songs found here are keepers, and that says something for this innovative group known for their experimentation with sound. Unlike previous albums and those that came after, this beauty is a breath of fresh air, as if the group finally got it right, as if Anton Newcombe was finally able to stand in one place long enough to let some of his best lyrics filter out of his seriously demented subconscious. The songs are sweet and layered, full of sound and vision, requiring nothing of you but the willingness to sit down and become one with the music. While sounding like early Stones, they are not copyist or a tribute band. The Stones are a strong influence, but TBJM incorporate Byrds like guitars, farfisa organ sounds, and at least a half dozen other instruments that are thrown in for a unique sound.
