The Chameleons was an English post-punk band formed 1981 in Middleton, Manchester. The band comprised singer and bassist Mark Burgess, guitarists Reg Smithies and Dave Fielding, and drummer John Lever. They were famed for their atmospheric sound underpinned by shimmering twin-guitar riffs. Their first album Script of the Bridge is a classic. Other outstanding albums include What Does Anything Mean? Basically, Strange Times and The John Peel Sessions.
