The Loud Family | Artist

The Loud Family was a San Francisco-based power pop band formed 1991 by songwriter and guitarist Scott Miller, who previously led the 1980s band Game Theory. The lineup was Miller (vocals, guitar), R. Dunbar Poor (bass), Paul Wieneke (keyboards), Zachary Smith (guitar) and Jozef Becker (drums). Although they were praised by critics and fellow musicians and adored by a small fan base, like Miller's former band Game Theory, mainstream success eluded the band throughout the 1990s. Miller committed suicide in 2013. The band released six studio LPs and one live LP from 1991 through 2006 and they are consistently brilliant slices of indie power/jangle pop with Miller's clever song writing and great production: Plants and Birds and Rocks and Things (1993), The Tape of Only Linda (1994), Interbabe Concern (1996), Days for Days (1998), Attractive Nuisance (2000), From Ritual to Romance (live, 2002) and What if it Works (2006).
