Ice on Fire is the Mighty Diamonds' Second studio album released in 1977. This was the follow up to their superb debut album Right Time and, under the purview of Virgin Records, took a sharp turn away from their earlier roots reggae sound towards a much slicker R&B vibe with slick recording sound produced by Allen Toussaint in New Orleans. In addition to the bands' compositions, they also cover three Toussaint numbers; "You Are Just a Song", "Get Out of My Life Woman" and "Sneakin Sally Through the Alley", the Frankie Miller tune "Little Angel", and Smoky Robinson's "Tracks of My Tears". This album is definitely a mainstream departure for this Jamaican vocal harmony trio however on this album they deliver a refreshing blend of reggae and R&B which has the typically sophisticated sound palette applied by Allen Toussaint. This is a great cross-over album that will appeal to fans who like their reggae light and breezy.
