Joseph Henry "T Bone" Burnett III is an American record producer, musician, and songwriter born 1948 in St Louis, Missouri. Burnett was influenced from an early age by the music of Louis Armstrong, Buddy Holly, Johnny Cash and The Beatles and he spent a great deal of his youth learning guitar and hanging around a local basement recording studio Sound City near to where he lived. He produced and played drums on "Paralyzed", the novelty hit by the Legendary Stardust Cowboy. He has gone on to become one of the leading producers of American Roots music, working with Sam Phillips, Elvis Costello, Robert Plant & Allison Krauss, Gillian Welch, Gregg Allman and Roy Orbison. He also produced the award-winning soundtrack of the film O Brother, Where Art Thou?. Among his accomplishments, Burnett is a talented golfer, he played in Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder Review band, and he has issued many excellent solo recordings. Outstanding albums include T Bone Burnett, The Criminal Under My Own Hat, The True False Identity, Tooth of Crime and O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack.
