The Dear Hunter is an American progressive rock band formed 2005 in Providence, Rhode Island, by Casey Crescenzo (vocals, piano, guitar), Erick Serna (guitar, vocals), Luke H Dent (keyboards, vocals, guitar, percussion), Sammy Dent (drums) and Josh Rheault (bass, vocals). In 2007 Luke and Sammy Dent, plus Josh Rheault left the band to be replaced by Andy Wildrick (guitar, keyboards, vocals), Nick Crescenzo (drums, vocals) and Nate Patterson (bass). The began as a side project of Casey Crescenzo when he was a member of The Receiving End of Sirens. Their sound features a wide variety of instruments and styled around prog rock with touches of post-hardcore sound. Most of the band's albums, starting with their 2006 debut album Act I: The Lake South, the River North, are concept albums and a part of a common storyline, planned to conclude with a sixth instalment. The most recent addition is 2016's Act V: Hymns with the Devil in Confessional. Standout albums include Act II: The Meaning of, and All Things Regarding Ms. Leading, Act IV: Rebirth in Reprise, Act V: Hymns With the Devil in Confessional, and the 2022 release Antimai, which is not part if the concept cycle.
