The Alan Parsons Project was an English rock band collective formed 1975 in London by core members Alan Parsons and Eric Woolfson. Parsons was an audio engineer, producer, musician and composer, and Woolfson was also a composer, pianist and singer. The duo brought together leading support artists such as Colin Blunstone, John Miles and David Paton, on a project by project basis. The two met at Abbey Road Studios where Parsons had engineered The Beatles' Abbey Road and Let it Be, and was working on Pink Floyd's Dark Side of The Moon, and Woolfson was working as a session pianist. Their first collaboration resulted in 1976's Tales of Mystery and Imagination, based on the work of Edgar Allan Poe. They went on to create progressive rock based concept albums over a ten year period, all characterised by excellent musicianship, production and sound quality. Outstanding albums include Tales of Mystery and Imagination, I Robot, The Turn of a Friendly Card and Eye in the Sky.
