Furman (vocals, guitar) formed Ezra Furman and the Harpoons in 2006 with Job Mukkada (bass, vocals) and Adam Abrutyn (drums) and that band recorded three studio albums. Furman currently performs and records solo and tours with The Harpoons. Furman also wrote the soundtrack for the Netflix series Sex Education, released in 2020. Her idiosyncratic style spans Indie, garage, blues and pop/rock genres. One reviewer described their sound as "garage doo-wop". Lyrically, the music focusses on the travails of love and LGBT life.
